Facilities--Corbett Center hermitage

Cottage Hermitage

Designed and built by David Omick, the 8×16 wood-frame hermitage has a simple sleeping and living area with a small wood stove for winter warmth. An outdoor kitchen is furnished with a propane stove and covered work area. Drinking water is provided by a Berkey water filter to purify rainwater catchment. A metal chimenea is available on the cement pad for small fires. A composting toilet and a primitive outdoor shower are nearby.

When I arrived I was excited for the adventure, but my heart was wearied by the world. As I leave, my heart and soul are nourished and happy, but there is no excitement to leave this deep and spiritual place. But I have been fed, in this house, in this place.

Caravan Hermitage

Caravan Hermitage

Designed and built by Erik Revere and David Omick, this small metal-sided mobile hermitage is inspired by the sheepherder’s wagon and the gypsy caravan. It has a small sleeping area with desk and chair inside, a covered porch, and an outdoor cooking area furnished with a propane stove. Drinking water is provided from a local well, and rainwater catchment provides water for bathing and dishwashing. A composting toilet is nearby.
